Company History

Over the years Atrius Technologies has achieved more than one distinction as a trailblazer in delivering cutting-edge technology services. Founded 1992, the company was then known as Pinnacle Online.  When dial-up connections were still a very new thing, Pinnacle became the first Internet Service Provider (ISP) the Norfolk / Virginia Beach, Virginia Metropolitan area. In 1999 the company earned the distinction of being one of the first Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISP) in the nation, installing a 45 MB fixed wireless circuit between the Downtown Norfolk, Virginia landmark Dominion Tower, and the Network Operations Center five miles away.

In October 2003 the principals of a Virginia Beach based Network Management and Web Development Company, Hampton Roads Host, had an opportunity to purchase controlling interest in Pinnacle Online and expanded the product portfolio to include information technology (IT) management and advanced application development services.

In 2004 the company began a major expansion of its Fixed Wireless Metropolitan Area Network. Installations of fixed wireless access points were made in Chesapeake and Downtown Norfolk. In 2005 the company installed a large fixed wireless array on the landmark Town Center building in Virginia Beach. In September of 2005 the company took another leap forward through merger with another Virginia Beach based technology company, TeliOn.

TeliOn and its owners have a long history of successfully delivering telecommunications and technology services in Hampton Roads. Adding TeliOn's high-speed fixed wireless network in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Chesapeake greatly expanded the service area overnight. Other expanded services include structured wiring and premise equipment installation, and wireless LAN & VPN applications. In addition, TeliOn has brought an expertise in digital telephony including Voice over internet services, also known as VoIP.

In 2005 Hampton Roads Host, TeliOn, and Pinnacle Online executed a merger and formed Atrius Technologies. Although many technology companies have come and gone in Hampton Roads, Atrius has been serving its customers without interruption since the birth of the Internet.
